South African founder of the Ubuntu operating system, Mark Shuttleworth, gave all of his employees a R1 bonus after selling his company.

They were counseled on Financial Management and some of it was invested on their behalf.
They all stayed in his / his company's employ afterwards for years. He is one of the nicer guys who made it. Took care of them and then some.
My wife worked for The Shuttleworth Foundation back in 2004 and all those employees were still working at one or other of his companies.
