The Odyssey broke attendance records at Ster-Kinekor in an "already phenomenal season" for cinema

I don't see what's ironic here
We know. It's really obvious.

Your point is garbage. Actual Greeks disagree with your point and you're still claiming it isn't garbage.

It's a fricken fantasy rewritten for modern audiences. Get over whatever idiotic stupidity it is that has taken grasp and move on.

May as well have hissy fits about reworks of Hans Christen Anderson, Howard Pyle, Brothers Grimm, Valerian Viliamovich Karrik, Liu Cixin or Andrzej Sapkowski stories.

Zero modern audiences would sit through, or even understand, an authentic Shakespear production.

Your "point" is puerile and pointless. Utterly pointless. Regardless of how many confirmation bias references you hunt down.

Whatever helps you sleep better at night...

Did you read the comments below that tweet you posted, with that rather er uncomfortable bland praise?

It's all MAGA vs Woke. And coupled with what you wrote earlier. You just can't fathom that you're acting like MAGA here yourself.

Which actual Greeks disagree with me? There are many kids who simply don't comment or post.

Does this Greek disagree with me? https://paulvirides.substack.com/p/for-many-greeks-the-odyssey-is-the
or what about this one:

Just because some kids went to watch it in the movies, 'actual Greeks' think it's the best thing ever? Really? You deduced that?

It's a fricken fantasy rewritten for modern audiences. Get over whatever idiotic stupidity it is that has taken grasp and move on.

So also clueless.

May as well have hissy fits about reworks of Hans Christen Anderson, Howard Pyle, Brothers Grimm, Valerian Viliamovich Karrik, Liu Cixin or Andrzej Sapkowski stories.

I don't know some of those. Sapkowski is a not Homer. Grimm collected folk tales which were European. They're not actually part of our European culture. They're just stories we read as kids.

Zero modern audiences would sit through, or even understand, an authentic Shakespear production.

LOL, is that what you understand? You're attacking strawmen.

Your "point" is puerile and pointless. Utterly pointless. Regardless of how many confirmation bias references you hunt down.

Go away, you drink too much whisky.

Again, We know. Because you're claiming an authority you do not have.

So you're saying I should know your list of favourite authors to be an 'authority'.

So argument from authority, then?

So why didn't you comment on what these two guys said?

I agree with them. And no I'm not saying and they're NOT saying that The Odyssey should be performed in ancient Greek. Your ridiculous "authentic Shakespeare production".
I also don't understand what you mean by modern audiences? Modern audiences don't want Greek representation but they want other no-name people? And they want casual language to be used? And armour which looks like Batman or the Predator?
And I already said we're not discussing box office.

Or are you saying Greek input would cancel box office earnings?

Man... tell me you don't understand without telling me. You're way too easy.

Let's go and do some research about your earlier examples: Homer is Greek indentity.
Grimm is literature, now for children. Andersen is kids' stories. Sapkowski is modern fantasy. Liu Cixin is modern sci-fi.

What heritage and cultural identities are those other works of? They're not. They're as cultural as Stephen King is Americana.

Ok so trolling
Not at all. Here's why you are broken. You picked a ridiculous, ignorant, stance and then ran off to find someone, anyone, who shares your distorted view of reality then post it here as if it's universal sentiment.

It isn't.

Maybe try the scientific method and spend 2 seconds attempting to disprove your hypothesis. You will find it is stupidly easy to do so.

Dude, I never once mentioned MAGA, that is your obsession. All I saw was a bunch of half-wits making silly claims about a movie months before it was even released.

In summary
1) How dare they cast a black woman as the most beautiful woman ever, she clearly needs to be white.
2) How dare they cast a trans actor as Achilles, Troy was much better (never mind that Elliot page wasn't ever playing Achilles)
3) This is woke slop, it's going to fail
4) Nolan is making casting choices in order to get Oscar Nominations (echoed by Musk and complete BS)
5) Okay, it might do okay, but it's still hasn't broken even after two weeks
6) It's an Insult to the Greek people because no Greeks were cast.

Honestly dude, the procession of pathetic excuses to justify this hatred of a movie would be hilarious if it wasn't so f***ing sad.
The fact that you have appointed yourself the defender of the Greek people's feelings, when they seem to be queuing up to watch the movie is even more sad.

I reserved my judgement for this movie, and the guys at redlettermedia was impressed, so i`m looking forward to wathcing it, in spite of having to look at zendaya's face again. We all know it's gonna reap all the oscars, but in my humble opinion, this should have been an Eggers movie.

Greek lives matter.

Next we gonna hear that double cream Greek Yogurt does not really contain Greek culture.
Brad pitt looks about as greek in troy as whoever is playing helen of troy now in oddysee, but i`m sure both the left and the right agrees that the "culture" war in california or wherever has no place in art and we're all tired of it
