ICASA says Herotel must obtain radio frequency spectrum licences to offer Amazon Leo broadband services in South Africa

Give it 6 months and magically MTN and Vodacom will have "had a word" and their greatest competitors will be struggling to get said license. Someone will be applying their mind and sitting on the application for a few years...

Rinse and repeat. Why we can't have nice things.
Herotel calls Vodacom daddy (well step-daddy really). Why would Vodacom "have a word" if they are scoring out of this deal?

Well even more so, step-daddy will slow play it. They cant have their step child messing up their cash cow!

That's not a back door. That is a legit way of doing business.

You partner with someone, or you setup your own local legal fiction. Either way, there has to be a local licensee. Why do you not know basic stuff that this.

There is no special Musk exclusion...there is no conspiracy...he chooses NOT to comply.
Musk chooses NOT to comply with the 30% BBBEE ownership racist BS - of course Starlink will have to have a local entity for licensing and tax etc purposes, even Musk won't dispute that.

I'm actually going to be quite interested to see the local Herotel BBBEE partner justification considering they are essentially owned by "Teh eebull Stellenbosch Broederbond" and a forrinner/colonist company (Vodafone)
