It feels like every month a new brand arrives, so it is just a stream of new names with nothing attached to them. Like a random word generator is churning them out.

For me, the Chinese brands must still prove themselves. The same way I was against Hyundai when it first was introduced in SA. I waited many years before getting a Hyundai, the Getz and it was a great little car for what I needed. So I will consider getting a Hyundai again if I plan on getting a new car. The Chinese need to show that their brands have staying power and they need to build up trust. That doesn't happen overnight.

Wouldn’t buy any of them but if I was given the choice of one for free, Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5 Naturally Aspirated Manual is probably the most reliable of the bunch on paper due to avoiding the DCT/CVT and turbo.

Sound reasoning.

I'd consider GWM/Haval as they have been here the longest and started with simple bakkies before moving onto the fancier SUVs, so one would assume that they have the important stuff under all the fancy gadgets covered.
