Seems the NLD's have restored since between 6-8pm , we are monitoring

I don't see an outage specifically listed for Centurion, do you have an open ticket at the moment?

I didn't log a ticket, since it's an area outage within Centurion, but someone else in my area Laudium did log one, I can see it listed in the notifications page, I also see it on mwebs outages page

Oh if this is for Laudium , then yes there is a outage listed,
Unfortunately openserve does not tend to give much info or updates regarding their outages, but they tend to get them resolved quite quickly most of the time.

It's been more than 12 hours, I have never had such a long outage before, must be some hectic cable breakage
 
@CoolEscalator @PBCool Do you perhaps know whether or not some strict rate limiting was applied to the DNS servers in Cape Town recently?

I noticed I sometimes get DNS timeouts and last night I was doing some digging and found that the servers only seem to allow 4-6 DNS simultaneous requests at a time, and the rest get dropped.
I noticed this because sometimes some pages like youtube will take 10 seconds to load while trying to resolve some domains like ytimg.com, probably because the initial request timed out and then re-tried after a few seconds.

I cooked up a script that I could use to test this theory and everytime I run it, i get timeouts, when I use any other DNS other than the CISP ones it works 100% with no timeouts.

I am not sure if anyone else has had DNS issues or not, I just thought it might be worth bringing to your attention as I have been struggling a bit with slow page loads because of it, and not sure if you have had any other complaints regarding it.
Some webpages resolve multiple domains at a time because it loads js/css and other content all at the same time causing this issue.

Strange, I'm not able to reproduce the issue with the script provided., is it still giving you timouts?

I will however see if our team can find anything.

Yep, I still see the timeouts, while cloudflare's runs clean, it is very strange.
Dont stress too much about it, as it could just be me, and I thought I would post incase you perhaps knew of anything.

I use Adguard at home which forwards to CISP DNS (altho i see the issues when bypassing adguard and going direct to CISP as well).
I tested opening twitch and the page took a while to load, and I see the long query times in the adguard logs.

Hi - line seems to go down regularly between 2000 and 2200 in the evening. Today it has gone down at exactly 1700,. it does restore after a couple of hours but is extremely frustrating as this is when the family has TV/streaming time and now it is weekend. I have been trying to get support to look into it. They eventually called at 1600 this afternoon but I was unable to take the call. Now it seems I must wait till Monday. #COOL-20260730-274-123 ...

Our support hours are until 8pm, and 9am-3pm on Weekends.
Can you share the full Ticket reference there? As I see the full reference was excluded.

Hi @Jason-ZA , so it seems your previous IP from around 10 mins ago was logged as exceeding the rate limit
The rate limit is quite generous though, however we have increased it.

Can you check to see if the issue persists?
But it may be a good idea to check if you are perhaps not queryingh too much at once.
