I had to go and check to verify this, because, like I said, I drive a lot of rental cars - and our company actually has an account with Avis - and I have never seen a Chinese rental car in SA or in Europe.

But, as you can see from this, they do actually, at least on paper, offer two chinesiums across their fleet. I am surprised - but it looks like it is only in the upper tiers - which is definitely not the bulk of the rental market. Why do they not use chinesium in groups A-E, where the major volume of the rental market is?
 
Gemini reckons the worldwide prevalence of Chinese rental cars is at least 25% and that’s dragged down by the US where the Chinese are the new communists behind every bush and the marker is less than 1%.

So you lot are literally all making up your own ****, because you just don’t want to believe the Chinese are here and competing toe to toe with ze Germans.

Because there is this confused market perception that the Chinese only do cheap and small…which they really don’t, at least not any more.

There isn’t really a Polo-class or lower Chinese car on the market that I can think of.

They kind of start in that mid tier but just do more for less.

So even the baby Haval Jolion would be a Group F car and I would imagine similarly for the Tiggo although the smallest one could maybe be an E.

Therefore the simple truth is that they just don’t exist in those classes which would explain why you’ve never noticed them because clearly you are getting the poor people rentals.
 
Imagine you are supposed to be a proper brand that people are expected to take seriously, and then you use generic ChatGPT created adverts…..

Then you are going to cry when you find out the Germans have fired all the conventional media companies they used in the past in favour of cheaper AI based ones…or worse deciding to do it themselves with AI in house.

That add doesn’t look obviously AI either.

I have yet to see an advert for a German car that looks like it was made by ChatGPT though…. Will start crying when that starts becoming the norm.

You cannot be serious. It is so obviously a ChatGPT creation. It looks exactly like all the other generic ChatGPT flyers every church and community organisation and 5km fun run is making. It 100% is clearly an AI creation

I don’t care how the car companies make their ads (I would prefer they pay real people who actually create meaningful content, but if they can create proper ads with only AI, so be it).

I said I have yet to see an advert for a European manufacturer that looks like it was created by an unskilled imbecile prompting the free version of chatGPT, like the JMC advert I linked to was. I haven’t seen the advert for the new IX3, I doubt I ever will, it’s not something I have interest in, or would ever purchase, so if their AI marketing bot is setting their targeting properly, I would never see that.

I do buy bakkies regularly for work though, and have an interest in them, so I did see JMCs low effort ChatGPT ad.

Hmm, what makes you think it’s AI?

If anything it looks like someone did that ad by hand and it’s not their day job.

It looks amateur I’ll agree, but it doesn’t look AI at all to me.

same I'm quite surprised, but but but, notice 2 payment cards required to rent, like a Luxury Mercedes or BMW,
I do wonder why? or is it because the parts are so expensive compared to a polo or a Kwid that they cant afford people to do a jackass and run away after totaling it.

covering all their bases as even they know the parts and maintenance is expensive.
