ok cool, my ip changed as I tested with a laptop directly plugged into the ONT just now and found the same.
Wanted to make 100% sure it wasnt my router or anything else that could have caused it.

Which is concerning if you managed to reach that frequently. Might be a good idea to inspect your network or devices for anything funny going on there.

Thanks that is strange, will definitely investigate, might be worth it for me to also stop using adguard for a while incase there might be something strange going on there with it, because I noticed from the adguard screenshot i posted earlier its making the same DNS request multiple times which might be the problem.

Anyone else been getting steams "no internet connection" error when trying to download?
Only seems to happen if I have the download server set to CPT/JHB.
Setting it to something overseas seems to work fine.

I had the same yesterday, thought I was the only one. Openserve JHB with Steam server set to JHB.
 
Stupid question, but I'm trying to understand how migrations actually work with frogfoot: once a line is migrated (rather than a new install), and the old ISP has released it, what actually needs to happen technically for it to go live on Cool ideas?

I come from the ADSL era, where this kind of thing ranged from a simple pppoe change all the way through to the line having to join the "holding pool" and the likes etc, with downtime ranging from zero to not zero. Is a frogfoot migration similar, or does it involve a truck roll, bribe or something else magical to happen?

Just trying to manage expectations this side, so I know what to expect

It is the same thing, once line is released we would apply and provision the line. You then get pppoe details and carry on.

I also got this yesterday when trying to download an update for Meccha Chameleon. It's also not the first time this has happened, I had the same thing about a month ago and my friends on Afrihost said they didn't see anything similar.

Lines are typically all released at the beginning of the month, and they should auto provision from there, for the most part click click :)

Interestingly our server is only in JHB, but the team is investigating.
 
Ever since last night my last night my internet would randomly die then come back after a few minutes, ONT seems fine, all I have are router logs

So the place I am moving to, complex in Rynfield, has frogfoot. Old tenant cancelled and sent me the mail from Afrihost that it releases 31 Aug at midnight blah blah. Mine cancels at current address with CI same time.

Questions.
1. Does FF use PPPOE (ala OpenServe) or DHCP (ala Vuma).
2. There is a fibre connection coming into the place but it was not plugged into anything. Found one of those small Uniquiti Fibre ONTs and I’ve plugged it in, but no router plugged into that. Found 2, not sure which it will be, 1 is a Tenda and the other is a Mi (Xiaomi). There was a TPLINK XE500 or some such TR069 capable router (I know Afrihost loves that). This relates to Q1. If the net is supposed to cancel only at the end of August and I can use it until then, how do I get somebody from FF to come out and make sure it’s all kosher still.
3. When do I place my new order for the new place with CI so that I am up and going as early in September as possible. Wife works from home so quickest resolution is important for me.
4. If I want to get CI in quicker, s there a way I can settle the full August month for the previous Tenant with AH and/or FF so that they release sooner?
5. The old tenant is not technically inclined so how do I get the circuit number or whatever it is FF uses.

We move in the 23rd August but I want to make sure existing is grafting and new is going as soon as possible. Was advised by the team to cancel and order when I queried migration to new address. Been with CI since 2018 and don’t intend changing.
