I wonder if the water dispenser is not doing the same thing as steaming the water.


My initial skepticism around this wand water is that they are often really dirty. I do flush mine out every time but it still needs cleaning as there is always build up. I'm going to do a massive cleanout before attempting this steam wand water thing.

I'm even thinking that James's machine is going to be pristenene and may never even have had milk in the steamer.
I always thought a warm water dispenser was a pointless thing but now I see its use.
Water might actually taste better when heated by a coffee machine. It could be the steaming process, it could be the boiler, it could even be the speed at which the water is heated.

Might just be a James Hoffman rabbit hole... but those are my favorite.

I recently acquired a swan-espresso-machine and a Krups Expert Burr Coffee Grinder.

I've watched this series on youtube A Beginner's Guide to Coffee

So now, has anybody have experience with these machine, are they good to learn and if they not, what should I look out for ( I am not spending more money until I can see benefit somehow. )

Are there any pages in the this thread I should have a gander at that would help my journey.

I don't know about taste profiles, it quite diffcult for me to understand what to look out for, any videos you can recommend or places that do coffee tastings and could explain what I am supposed to be experincing.

I have ordered coffee from Terbodore ( AI recommended ). I don't know if their coffee is good, how do you tell?

No but that is very cheap. Even if it just last the warranty period.

I dunno dude, from what I've seen on Takealot Pebbles makes a lot of cheap stuff, no idea about the quality. For that price, you might be better off with a well-known brand like Sage instead. I've got this on my wishlist: https://bash.com/sage-dose-control-pro-silver-153301abbh8/p

I'm late to the party wtf is Bash?

Anyway I have a big TAL voucher so was hoping to buy from there but as you say, Sage is a known brand so definitely worth considering.

(FWIW, the Pebbles one is fully metal interior even though the outside is cheap, according to reviews. Lance H recommends switching out the burrs tho, so gotta take that extra cost into account, eventually.)

They are the online website for all of these brands (the coffee stuff is from @home - which has the exclusive rights to distribute Sage products in South Africa):

Hey All, does anybody here buy second hand coffee equipment? Looking to try out some new brewers but I'd prefer to go second hand if possible. Not sure where to shop though. I guess FB marketplace? They don't seem to have much.
