Vodacom in big Amazon Prime deal in South Africa

Vodacom and Amazon have announced an agreement that will see the mobile operator’s postpaid customers receive free membership to Prime, the online retailer’s subscription programme.

Vodacom Red Core, Red Flexi, and Red VIP customers will enjoy all the benefits of Amazon Prime, though some contracts are limited to specific trial periods.

That mobile edition is the worst offer ever. I won a year voucher via Vodacom app and I couldn't cancel it so now I can't watch anything on tv or iPad until December. Darn it!

Same here. It only finally ended when I upgraded to full Prime Video with the Amazon Prime subscription ... I tried multiple times to cancel the mobile trial using the Vodafone website and it claimed to do it but nothing changed.

At least you're getting something from Vodacom. Because it certainly isn't good customer service.
That time i was in Cape Town i was on Vodacom for a while as I thought of porting from MTN but it was prepaid before i took out a countract. Oh my word the service was horrible. We almost didn't find the place cause i had no service half the time in the city! lol.

Glad i'm back on MTN. They irritate me with certain things but their network works well.

Vodacom Red Core, Red Flexi, and Red VIP customers. That sounds like Discovery.

*raises eyebrows* I'm on Vodacom and literally never experienced any issues in Cape Town ... on any holiday or when I lived there. Maybe it's your phone that needs an upgrade?

We all know MTN is the best network in the rural areas, but Cape Town CBD ain't that rural.

My phone is an iPhone. You can’t get anything better in this nor any parallel universes ;)

I don’t know but it was shocking. Half the time I used someone’s MTN hotspot.

The same phone on another trip to Cape Town riding through the same area but on MTN and I had 5G with insane speed.

I had an iPhone too, so ... snap. Let's blame it on the car you were driving then, or the obscene speed, or solar flairs. Vodacom client care runs circles around MTN, and every so often you gotta go into a store and that actually matters ;P

lol

it was a little Nissan Magnite - i don't think "obscene" and "speed" go in the same sentence with it lol. And an automatic...

Maybe I should do that because I was skeptical to upgrade as I thought I still had to wait for the voucher to expire. Thanks again.

I am a Vodacom Fibre client and have not received an email from Vodacom regarding the Vodacom / Amazon Prime free benefit. Did anyone receive this? The article says rollout will start from August.
