I perished at least five times from the vaccine, as did just about everyone I know who wasn't a free thinker. It would have been worse, but being in London I had my head chopped off a few times before the vaccine could get me again.

Small mercies and all that.

I also believe that the whole Reflecting Pool debacle could have been resolved had people been allowed to dump Ivermectin into it. This is clearly Fauci and Biden's fault and also the fault of wokeness.

Capitalism places shareholder return as the primary driver.

Without giving sustainability and social impact equal weight, it just incentivises extractio of wealth rather than building it though improved productivity.

Same thing happend in the 1880-1930 period for the same reasons as today. Too much short term thinking and wealth extraction for the benefit of the Oligachs (robber barons)

Communism in Russia had a similar result, but under a different structure. In that case it was not private capital extracting all the wealth, it was the state extracting the wealth for the benefit of the Oligarchs.

Oh I understand this perfectly. I also fully comprehend the reasons why some socialist systems imploded. They imploded because of the flaws that entered the system.

But the flaws that entered, cannot be excluded from the framework, as chris was trying to argue. They are simply a consequence of implementation and systemic evolution.

I think it's all about the power structure. The more concentrated the power, the more likely the system is to fail.
A system where people have a voice and a vote, where people can make educated decisions regarding the functioning of government (referendums etc), is also a system that lasts.

Communism cannot work since it relies on a small number of people to control the population. Capitalism in it's pure form cannot work because it concentrates wealth and power in the hands of a few.

There are always parties that seek to undermine any framework. So any framework will also need some guardrails and regulation to protect it, and make the neccesary exceptions.
