An Interesting find on my desert walk today!

In almost half a century of wandering around the desert up here, I have never seen such a sight as I had yesterday afternoon.

Took A slightly different route this time and stumbled apon two Gemsbok horns protruding from the ancient Namib sands.

The mutts were intrigued, the English wanted to dig it up.... I told her to leave it as is....

We stood there wondering what had happened. I estimate it to be between and twenty and thirty years ago...

We have plenty of Ostrich, Gemsbok and even the odd seal skeletons laying around, but not like this...

It is a little known fact that Namibian Gemsbok are ambush predators who bury themselves in the sand and then strike their prey with their sharp horns when it ventures too close.

You had an lucky escape. I'd treat yourself to a stiff drink if I were you.
