I am curios, why didn't you just print it black to begin with? just didn't have or is there another reason?
Didn't have any. But would probably have given it a light spray anyway just to get rid of the gloss / sheen that black material usually has (unless it's a matt material in which case I wouldn't spay).

Bought a new build plate yesterday and this was my first print. As far as I can gather, this is an epoxy build plate and not a textured PEI, as the original one was. These ones are apparently fond of glue and whatnot. Will go and ask the guys at the store what to do and where to go from here. I would really like a second plate, but one like my original (that works and lasts).

I bought a PEI plate from temu to test, one of those with patterns textured in, Been using it as my primary plate for about a year now with no issues, quite surprised by it.
 
I came across a model for some "replacement weapons" that might just fit a MOTU action figure. I can for the life of me not get to print those. Has anybody done something like that, that can help with printer settings? I can share the STL link if there are any takers.

Does it not stay the bed? Did you try with a brim?

The things are rounded, so not flat on the bed. I added brims and supports, all sorts, with the "help" of chatGPT. I tried an axe three times with different layouts, none worked.

Only tips I can give with these type of small finicky prints like the weapons for my Dummy13 and the 175mm tall human skeleton I just printed is:

- Keep the model as horizontal as possible so the layer lines follow the largest surface area, removing supports on tiny pieces with tiny layers will cause the model to fall apart.
- Support settings are the most important, you don't want to use standard tree support settings. For a 0.16mm layer height for instance, I use a decent top z-offset of 0.25mm-026mm and 3 top interface layers. Anything less as support removal and the scarring left is a mess.
- Personally I had more luck using PETG than PLA for this stuff, regardless of what many people say. I had better bed adhesion and the plastic is more forgiving during cleanup.

This for example will fail...
The support brim is too small on the existing support unless you have insane adhesion and/or you need to paint some more supports on the area I pointed out. You also need more of them since if you increase the support z-height offset so support remove easier the part will just pop loose from the support when the nozzle presses down on the tip section.
Try setting the support brim to something like 5-7mm. Brims use very little plastic so always better to go bigger if unsure.

This one is a good view.
Remember, the print nozzle presses down on the model with quite some force, little areas like the one you depicted here with no vertical supports underneath the print area or a way for the downward force to dissipate into the bed means that small area becomes a force-amplifier (lever) that pries the print off the bed.

Looks like you need more support underneath the haft.

I would maybe try rotate the axe so that the blade faces vertically and keep supports under the handle all the way down. And add a brim as you don't want the nozzle to knock the model over.
 
How could I have forgotten.
