Plex's Free Movies & TV ad-supported streaming operated illegally in South Africa

The free stuff on Plex was no-name b-grade brand straight to video kak anyway...wtf watched that nonsense??

Use it as a media server ...that's it.
Maybe if the market wasn't stifled by regulation there would be incentive (and money) to spend on better content deals. No point spending big money on high quality content if it doesn't make financial sense.

North America has some great content on Plex.

For those saying, "...who even watched Plex TV?"... they played Sassy Sasquatch, which makes them worthy.

I don't understand why Plex gave 2 craps about their enforcement order. They could have just ignored it with the contempt it deserved, told them to shove it where the sun don't shine and there wouldn't have been a damn thing they could have done about it. It completely baffles me why an overseas company would bend over to accommodate an illegitimate and toothless organization like the FPB.

'Cos they think it's better to be seen as cooperating I would imagine.

Makes no difference, as mentioned earlier it's easy enough to get past with a VPN if we want to.

An outdated dinosaur wanting money for nothing to try and justify its own existence.
To be fair, they have to also justify their expensive cars, bonuses etc...

Also available free literally everywhere else.

Nobody here can claim that Plex was their go-to for media entertainment.
There's stuff on there I watched I couldn't find anywhere else. Perhaps it was b-grade but who the shiat cares? I wanted to watch it.

Are they really going after each and every site to block them from working in South Africa?
Yes, they went from being an 'lnformation provider' to just being another government legalized money-making racket for the ANC.

1. Half true. I have 125TB Hard drives connected to my Plex server with tens, if not hundreds of thousands of series and movies on it. This is my go-to entertainment whenever I want to watch something on my TV in my living room. Old or new.

2. Admittedly, I do not use Plex for live TV at all. For that, I have a number of apps on my TV already providing me with access to many thousands of TV stations, torrents, sport channels for live sports globally at no costs. Sometimes some channels work, sometimes they don't. But, channels do eventually get updated and fixed again.

3. As far as I know, Plex do not have servers in SA, so technically they do not operate in SA. I paid them abroad for my lifetime pass years ago.

This appears more to be an issue where the government wants to decide what people of SA can and cannot have access to and they will want to cut every person off everything unless they can get some loot to share.

You missed half the story.

I was talking about LIVE TV...which is what the thread is about.

I also stated that it is only good for hosting your own media server.
