My boss to this day doesn't have a computer or laptop on his desk. He starts off his day at the office with a cappuccino & the Mercury newspaper .

You'll hardly ever find him looking at his cellphone either. If he's not reading then you will see him sitting and doing absolutely nothing, other than being deep in thought.

Doesn't text either, phone call or meets people in person.

Never in my life. They still deliver the Rekord at our complex and I don't even grab one of those for free.

You should try it some time - it’s rather cathartic. One of life’s great joys is sitting at a coffee shop or cafe, or your verandah, cup of coffee and a bagel, and actually reading a newspaper. Just a pity there are so few worthwhile papers left.

I do enjoy Die Papier these days, and we are lucky to have a few good local, free, ad supported weekly papers in stellenbosch that are still available in print format.

Your boss is my new hero. I envy anyone who managed to get that right - I am working towards something similar - but I will never I think get to that point.

I have however started implementing device free, in person planning meetings once a week at our office. It has boosted productivity and creativity immensely - and we are driving our teams to cut back on PowerPoint use for presentations heavily.
