Land expropriation without compensation started by the ANC in an important South African city

Aren't they just expropriating it from one of their own? Wasn't there a bit of an uproar when an ANC councilor bought up the land, the housing project was going to be built on, hoping that he could sell it at a highly inflated price? I remember seeing an article in the Herald about it.

No, by law, they have to expropriate white owned lands. I am sure I heard it here.

This whole thing is fishy. The councilor who bought the land was a Dr Ravin, or something similar i cant remember exactly, and he bought it hoping to make a quick buck. He resigned shortly after the news broke and was uncontactable by city officials and the newspapers.

Land expropriation without compensation started by the ANC in an important South African city

The ANC-led coalition government in Nelson Mandela Bay Metro began the process of expropriating private land without compensation.
Another big "nothing-burger". Makes for nice click bait sensationalist headlines though.

As it pushed to launch Phase 2 of the Kleinskool Housing Project and issue title deeds to residents, it faced a legal problem because it did not own the underlying property.
To bypass this, the ANC-led coalition government in Nelson Mandela Bay moved to invoke expropriation processes.
The move was widely characterised as an attempt by the municipality to expropriate private land without compensation.
