Many parents have mixed feelings about the unrestricted use of artificial intelligence (AI) for schoolwork. They are concerned about the potential impact on their child's ability to learn but also don't want them to be left behind if other young people are using AI.

A new study involving the Cluster of Excellence ECONtribute shows how much this social pressure is influencing demand. The study, titled "Social Dynamics of AI Adoption in Parents' Educational Decisions," is published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

If you are just copy and pasting now what AI is saying, how are you learning anything?
Also with all the unreviewed and incorrect information floating about and no human input to correct it, should it be done?

Well, I heard from the people that struggle at work that they went to university to learn how to think.

Maybe AI can build on that.

I work with a whole bunch of degreed folks.
They have no common sense whatsoever. None, zilch, nada, 0.
Anything goes outside of the lines they're stuffed.
 
Odd, my kids have completely rejected AI. Thought it was the norm that youngsters had started pushing back at this digital world.

Anything goes outside of the lines they're like a dear in headlights. Check their facial expressions.

I think we're too late for that already unfortunately :(

But oddly its not the newest generation that is displaying these tendencies.
 
Peer pressure to use AI... that is a mental issue. That said, there are many businesses today that demand AI use. It is being driven by corporate adoption, and investors.

Certainly a good reason for daddy to buy their spawn a new RTX 5090 with 32GBs of video RAM. That can run a lot of powerful open source models locally.
