Amazon Leo will bring Internet improvements in South Africa

The launch of the Amazon Leo satellite Internet service in South Africa will improve Internet quality in rural areas, even if it does not deliver Starlink-level performance.

That is the view of World Wide Worx CEO and reputed technology expert Arthur Goldstuck, who spoke to MyBroadband about his expectations for the service.

What is an Evry subscription? It's even capitalised.

AI faux pas?
evry is a Herotel service dedicated to bringing fast, reliable internet to South Africans everywhere. Trading under the tagline evryone. evrywhere, evry was created to connect homes and small businesses that have historically been beyond the reach of fixed internet infrastructure. evry is fully supported by Herotel's national operational infrastructure and local teams.

Ja, an "improvement" would be dial-up speed compared to F0KKOL ne
All they need to do is offer better than 15mbit packages and they will have my money. Herotel themselves don't offer wireless packages better than that. Our current provider also maxes out there.

The only way to get faster speeds is to pay for a point to point solution, but they have about 8 towers between us and their breakout, so thats a lot of kit to buy to get dedicated 1:1 bandwidth. And they charge the fck out of you for the bandwidth since you have no other choice.

Now this is satellite Internet we can actually trust, unlike Musk's shoddy product, and I intend to subscribe to it as it is far more versatile than fibre. Most Musk fanboys have no intention of actually subscribing to satellite Internet but they only entertain fantasies of their beloved racist taking them to Mars in his arms.

Leo is for the serious, not manchildren with sci-fi fantasies.

Funny how they're pushing a Mickey Mouse pie in the sky version when Starlink could launch right now but somehow it's downplayed. If only politics could disappear from the face of the earth to be run by a free market system.

I think someone posted in the other thread that Herotel has the same owners as the rest. There's no real competition. Let Musk do his thing too, the more, the merrier

You know they are building out the constellation, right? It will be equivalent in a few years.
