South Africans will pay nearly the same per month for subscriptions to five popular international video streaming services as they would for a DStv Compact streaming-only package.

DStv's mass and middle-market packages have become increasingly important for MultiChoice in recent years as subscribers have begun cancelling their Premium and Compact Plus packages.

Over the years MultiChoice did itself no favours by exploiting its market dominance and charging high prices for average offerings. The stigma persists no matter who the current owner is. There is no logical reason to use their services for anything other than sport, and effectively with the country being somewhat sports obsessed it is the only card they have to play.

But how are you going to watch the Betway Premiership on Netflix? Just curious, will Disney Basic still include the two ESPN channels? I just want to watch baseball, the NFL and rugby league. I am happy to spend R49 for that and only pay for mobile data.

AFAIK ESPN is part of the Disney+ Basic package. we have the mobile edition and regularly watch ESPN.
