Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

People are hungry for Spidey.

    • Brand New Day secured the second-biggest worldwide debut in history, trailing only 2019's Avengers: Endgame ($1.2 billion).
    • Its domestic debut of $355 million is also the second-biggest North American record ever, sitting just behind Avengers: Endgame's $357 million domestic first weekend.

I'm about midway into evil dead burn - not bad but at this stage I want the actual movie of the prof and his tapes and not more of his family or whomever stumbles on the book.

Also this time it feels like the evil dead open world vs a more focused setting and targets.

The deadites themselves feels less like deadites that were present in the two movies before this. In this they were better.

I can't see this going more than 7/10 for me unless it ****ing drastically improves.

-Edit-
Ranked order of NuEvil Dead:
Evil Dead (2013) - still ranking one
Evil Dead Rise (2023) - probably the peak of NuEvil Deads
Evil Dead Burn (2026) - weakest entry

Idk wtf they tried with bun here…

Can't really recommend it but I guess try it if you're into evil dead?

Final score for this is 6.5/10 - it's family drama horror chore you may want to sit out esp. past halfway mark.

Rewatched the last two Spiderman films (both on Netflix ) in preparation of watching latest Spidey movie today.

Spiderman Far from home - 2019
6/10
Didn't like the Mysterio character and whole reveal. Action scenes clumsy and messy. Movie is all over the show (and all over Europe) and just not focused enough.

Spiderman No way home - 2021
7.5/10
Much better. Really enjoyed this.
Good action scenes from the start and storyline also good. A lot of heart too. Enjoyed this.

Spiderman Brand new day - 2026
8/10
It keeps getting better.
Even Zendaya's acting is improving!
Great action and storyline.
First time that I experienced the audience clapping in the cinema. Only just read about it before. I didn't clap mind you, but I don't blame them. :)

Son watched All quiet on the western front last night, 15 year olds review. It's like no other war movie he's seen. It's something you don't watch a lot as it's a lot.

Evil Dead Burn (2026) - 6/10. Plenty of gore as what has become the norm for this franchise and a few wtf moments. It seems that this title has run its course as it follows the same pattern of events in each installment, just with different characters and settings. So nothing new to see here. Ok for a watch if you have nothing else/better to do.

72 Hours 4/10.

Acting is really poor, not much of a plot and not very funny.

Evil Dead Burn (2026) 2/10

I'm so bored with these setups. The characters always isolated from civilization. People making dumb illogical decisions, splitting and cell towers going down.

The 2 is for the continuous shot and the camera work in the bathroom scene.

Evil dead wrath or whatever the next one is going to be is going to be even worse of they don't fundamentally improve and use / know the actual IP.

Why I said they should pause on new evil dead and do full movie on the proff and his tapes; then return to fix what they broke.

Evil dead isn't just gore porn or pushing it it's about the deadites, comedy, gore all mixed into fun and bs story.

Rise and 2013 was ok for what they are but jesus burn is so bad and backwards it's not even funny.
