Cambridge city council opened the public toilets, built for just £1million, last week - and admitted it was for the benefit of foreign tourists.
Labour councillors claim the facilities "really enhance the cityscape" - but locals have hit out at the "crazy" £1 entry fee to use the loo.

New Silver Street public toilets officially opened by Mayor of Cambridge

The new architect-designed public conveniences at Silver Street in Cambridge’s historic city centre have been officially opened to the public by the Mayor of Cambridge, Cllr Maria Cleminson, and the Leader of Cambridge City Council, Cllr Katie Thornburrow.

Below street level, the main redeveloped toilets area is accessed through an entry gate system and down some stairs enclosed by decorative metal railings.

As well as standard toilet facilities, three squat-style flushing toilets, which are preferred by some international visitors, are available.

I doubt whether Cambridge has many medieval tourists in attendance.

Last time I saw any type of squat toilet was in a European capital anyway, plus it seems that most of the facilities there are "traditional". Cambridge always seems to have loads of Chinese tourists visiting and I'm not sure what their preferences are. Hopefully they aren't "cummin ova ere an takin are bogs".

It would be good if GB New's readership could skip having a riot over this one though. They tend to break stuff and piss all over the streets on such ocassions.

Yes, as if Cambridge is a a well-known tourist hotspot for people from countries where squatting when you go to the loo is normal. 😉

Yes it is. As I said above, there are always loads of Chinese tourists in Cambridge.

The pic below seems to contain some Chinese and if you Google it you will easily discover that such toilets are frequently found in China. 😉

Why is your go to always gaslighting? Posting ridiculousness doesn't equate outrage.

You and the dim one post dozens of reform or Tommy or Rupert articles over and over and over, daily, that's frothing outrage and yet, no one cares 🙄

And where's the gaslighting? You really shouldn't be lighting gas in bogs, public or otherwise.

Because its politics related ... why do you keep so raging boner over nigel? And the cheek to ask where's the gaslighting when you know exactly what you're doing - cements the person you are.
