PCBuilder machine bought for R9,999 in December 2025 now costs R15,092 more to build

16 gigs of ram. You may be able to run windows 95 without a swap file with that rig.

I feel like kotsing.

Me, less than two months ago:
"Not sure if should buy this Mac Mini, it's R10.5K, I should take some time to think about it"

Me this morning:
"Yeah, I need it, let me check if they're in stock"

F-u-u-u-u-u-k that.
Not happening. So now, if you see something in the news cycle about a guy getting murdered over a dodgy Facebook marketplace deal that was obviously a cheap scam, that would likely be me.

Wow - the sheer click-bait of that title is amazing. MyBB writers taking stretching half truths to comrades marathon lengths.
A heavily discounted display unit versus building a new one...

Don't know why I am surprised.

Wasted a minute of my time reading this ass of an article. Clickbait at it's finest.

This is one of the reasons why I visit Naaibroadband much less than usual.

Try iStore for something cheaper (never thought I would say that). https://www.istore.co.za/mac/shop-mac-mini-m4

I’m very confused by your post…?
Exactly.

PCBuilder brand.

PCBuilder a tool to help you build a pc.

It's confusing.

When PCBuilder was looking to expand into branded components, I pitched probably 20+ alternative names to Syntech, but they stuck with PCBuilder, haha.

Syntech are run by amateurs with a Business degree, that's why. They sold me my server requirements and it was a headache explaining things to them. Werner and Rudi stepped up though - kudos to them.

They have no on-call human behavioural analysts or psychologists and language experts to optimise brand names and similar. Werner is the man I'd trust a bit there - the rest are just typical examples of SA businessmen. Rudi is ok as well considering his experience before he joined.

Then again they are just a B2B wholesaler-to-retailer company, in Africa most of them don't believe "wasting money" on consumer behavioural science and optimisation is worth it. B2B corporates usually invest heavily in these metrics, not in Africa though.

It did say 'gaming' not Final Cut.

So my I5-4590 with 16GB DDR3 is now considered elite? Lol I know it's not but I'm going to be sticking with it for a long time.

They claimed they could source cheaper Blackwell chips for me.
Regardless, you can't expect them to have knowledge completely outside of their business model. It's like going to your local Haval dealership and asking them to sell you a 6 second 1/4 mile car.

Syntech knows their market extremely well, and knows how to serve it properly. That's why they're expanding at a STUPID rate while everyone else is either standing still, or going through mass retrenchments.

You know all those doom and gloom sponsored articles they had a few months ago here on Mybb/Business Tech? Well, they took their own advice - everyone else is crying for RAM while they have literally thousands of modules and kits on hand. That while having a silly amount of money to play with.
