You literally are bending yourself inside out to justify it.No one so far has tried to justify wanting to drink. I have purely stated I do, and I dont see a problem, and have put what I believe are reasonable questions forward to those advocating that the end of alcoholic consumption is a good thing. Some, like @HermeticAnarchist have put forward reasonable explanations. Others, who do not support drinking or do not see value in it have also put forward some reasonable points. Some have however, tried to make it all about alcohol abuse/misuse, which I have argued is a seperate argument. The one argument here I have and will not accept is the idea that is being put forward by some that there is absolutely no societal value brought by alcohol - or that its negatives are so heavy they easily outweigh any positive.
You are welcome to still partake (as mentioned I do) but you are folding yourself in half and blowing smoke up your own ass to try pretend that their AREN'T many negatives around alcohol.
The only "positive" is that it's a social thing, it doesn't have health benefits.I cannot agree, and cannot see how anyone can objectively look at the entire question of it and come to that conclusion.
For many it's a crutch to overcome social anxiety.
And sure you can bring up the culture thing, but in many areas the culture is actually "super trash" because the culture that involves drinking alcohol leads to fighting and screwing around.
In the same way crack cocaine is an individual issue. Any addictive thing is an "individual issue", but because alcohol has previously been super accepted it's easier for more people to fall victim when they lack the self control. So, it is an individual issue - not an alcohol issue?
You are trying to write off the risks and negatives to support culture (because that's effectively the only positive thing)... cultures change and evolved.
The world is heading in the opposite direction with alcohol.
