Takealot same-day and next-day delivery problems

Takealot shoppers have reported that the company sometimes failed to fulfil same-day or next-day orders on time, often delaying delivery dates shortly after orders are placed.

South Africa's largest e-commerce marketplace offers shoppers the option to pay extra for fast deliveries on some products. TakealotMore subscribers can also get free same-day delivery with their membership.

The other day I ordered from Takealot. Next day delivery was R75 or standard was free, however many days that takes. Chose free and it arrived the next day, which on the one hand is great, on the other I would have wasted 75 bucks without ever knowing it.


I haven’t been let down by Amazon yet, paid the R399 for a year of Prime and definitely getting my money’s worth.

Purchased a monitor later afternoon yesterday. Same price on Takealot and Amazon. Takealot said delivery today + R75 (I cancelled TakealotMore), otherwise Thursday. Amazon said by Friday (expects delays due to the rain). The Courier Guy is already out for delivery this morning (Dbn).

Its ok. They will complain and their next purchase will be with Takealot again and they will ensure their more subscription auto renews.

Definitely lost money from me since putting free delivery on orders over R500 behind a paywall. I will never understand paying a subscription to make it easier to spend more money.

Eh - mine arrive as expected.
And if you are ordering a birthday present for a family member at the 11th hour its not really takealots fault if they dont get it on time - you know a year in advance when their birthday is. plan better.

With Takealot it's infuriating that you have to go all the way to the checkout page to find out that next-day delivery is not possible despite every product you selected in your basket saying the next-day delivery is available for the product. Amazon.co.za is now my go to even if it's more expensive. When they say it's same day or next day you actually get the same day or the next day.

Nice when the delivery guy says noone answered and reschedules. Yet when you check the cameras he was never there. This is with Courier Guy. Wonder if takealot drivers does the same

My last 4 same/next day deliveries have been delayed. Twice I cancelled and ended up getting it on Amazon who actually honour their promise. They are talking kak with their 98% BS...

I will never use Amazon same day again. Last courier drove 3 hours + stuck in N2 traffic to deliver a R500 kettle. Even asked for petrol money. Cried her eyeballs out. Said they had people who were coming the next day but they are not allowed to delay a same day delivery.

I live in a main city so I'm shielded from the guilt. They always arrive with a car full of packages, indicating they actually planned their route properly. Besides, it might sound harsh, but their sob stories really shouldn't be anyone else's concern. It's a service we pay for, which Amazon in turn pays their contractors for, who in turn pay their staff. I don't make the difficulties of my job anyone else's problem. Failing to plan is planning to fail...

Its 98% of deliveries that they don't delay before hand that are on time.
