Geen vrotpoot in my area.

I'm still against it though. Everyone should have cheap access to fibre. Zoom doesn't discriminate.

Frogfoot explained that its new products were aimed at communities seeking affordable, uncapped home Internet without long-term contracts.
Something I'm after as well.

At the prices in the article, how do they justify charging R670pm (Axxxess) and more, for a 60/30 line on the "old" system.
EDIT - 2 price increases the last 2 years, without any change (meaning increase) in speed.

When they replaced the ONT recently in our area, we were told it's partly to do with selling new services they're introducing - presumably, this is one of them.

I don't see why we can't be switched over to this in a reasonable amount of time, via our existing ISP's or even directly through FF if they're now becoming an ISP themselves ?

When we've asked the guys doing this (mainly Vuma), they've said it's a mix of higher contention (i.e. cheaper operating costs) and cheaper civils (holes and poles vs digging up roads, i.e. cheaper capex).

Plus, then guys like Frogfoot and Fibertime place limits on how many devices per household can connect and do throttling on the lower-end packages.

I appreciate your personal reply, but still sure I (and many others) could live with either of these 2, and still save :

Frogfoot Leap Family offers uncapped 100Mbps download speeds and 50Mbps upload speeds for up to 5 Wi-Fi-connected devices.
[at R399pm]

Frogfoot Leap Plus offers uncapped symmetric 300Mbps speeds for R550 per month, supporting up to 10 connected devices, including 2 on wired Ethernet.

As for "throttling on the lower-end packages", if it was available to me I'd certainly ask them how they'll achieve that, given the 2 above state "uncapped" at 100 and 300 Mbps.

I'm aware of the Voda's, MTN"s and Telkom's of the world claiming "uncapped", but dropping their speeds on LTE / 5G after certain caps reached - presume this would be a first for fibre anywhere in the world if FF implemented that strategy ?

The frustration is these new offerings leap-frog 🐸 what I feel must be many of those who've been customers for a number of years already, are able to get without being able to choose or switch to them as well.

Just sound like big earners being forced to subsidize low earners to me, the normal extortion big business loves so much?
... though I'm far from a big earner.

Remains to be seen if they ever decide to standardize pricing / speeds to all of us, to fall in-line with these new offerings they're introducing, but won't hold my breath.

I suspect a proper public IP on these services is impossible. At least in the case of Vumatel, they also had the CPE/ONT as an all-in-one device last time I saw it for their Vuma Reach product.

More importantly though, we're struggling to get proper feedback from Frogfoot regarding a business line we needed installed by the start of August (informed them before June via the ISP).

If that's how they handle business customers, I pity anyone on the "Leap" product.

Yes, it's 12 August and the fibre at the new office is still not functional. Not the ISPs fault.

"Customers who need to connect additional devices via Ethernet can also activate additional ports through Frogfoot’s Port Booster value-added service." - WHAT?
