What happened to the Hantavirus ? It came, it killed some on a ship and disappears. I know they also started work on a vaccine for it but no way it worked that fast. It just vanished

Entirely different class of infective agents. Google:
Ebola and hantavirus are both severe, zoonotic viral diseases that can cause hemorrhagic fevers, but they belong to entirely different virus families, spread through different routes, and present distinct clinical and public health challenges.
Transmission and Spread
- Ebola: Caused by a filovirus (Filoviridae). It spreads from person to person strictly via direct contact with infected bodily fluids (blood, vomit, feces) or contaminated objects. It does not spread through the air.
- Hantavirus: Caused by a bunyavirus family member (Hantaviridae). Humans typically catch it by breathing in aerosolized dust contaminated with urine, droppings, or saliva from infected rodents (such as deer mice or related field rodents). While rare strains like the Andes hantavirus can show limited human-to-human transmission, person-to-person spread is otherwise virtually non-existent.

People generally do not properly appreciate how large the DRC is. Geographically the country is large (nearly double SA), and infrastructure is very poor. This means that travel between provinces is not an easy drive along the N2/N3 like we do here. This probably has helped contain the outbreak to the one corner (NE) of the country. Mobility in and out is largely limited flights between the region and Kinshasa.

We operate in the far south of the country and ebola is barely a concern there. We have staff regularly flying back and forth (i was there a month ago and had no issue).

Ok yeah i didn't mean its type being similar i meant - it was classified as a possible global outbreak and then vanished. But that's prob better discussed in its own thread can't remember if there was one.
 
Are they still stealing back infected corpses and burning down treatment centres? Coz that'll do it.
 

DR Congo’s Ebola outbreak ‘global emergency’ as infections pass 5,000: WHO​


The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) remains a global health emergency, the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned, saying that the number of cases in the country has passed 5,000.

Following an emergency meeting on Tuesday, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus called on the international community to assist in efforts to contain the outbreak, which has killed more than 2,320 people.

“We must be frank: The epidemic is far from being under control,” Tedros told the emergency meeting. “It had a big head start, and we are still playing catch-up.”

The outbreak is the seventeenth in the DRC and is now the deadliest, exceeding the number of people killed during the 2018 to 2020 outbreak – 2,299.

The emergency has caused more concern than usual for several reasons, including the fact that there is currently no approved vaccine or treatment for this strain of Ebola, known as Bundibugyo.

Also per the article, a volunteer in the UK received an experimental vaccination last month.
