New laws sent to Ramaphosa to sign

The National Assembly has passed new municipal demarcation laws that will now be sent to President Cyril Ramaphosa for assent.

Just legalising the right to change the municipal and ward boundaries to ensure that the ANC gets more votes and retains power while simultaneously watering down the votes of anyone who opposes the current regime.

Funny how all these laws can come into effect within days but, we can't seem to put any political fraudsters and criminals behind bars....

It's not really, or at least not really more than before.

You now have an extra independent board and public participation for boundary changes, and the criteria should be more clearly communicated to the public.

There is still proportional voting across the municipality, so won't make too much of a difference.

Biggest issue is that the "independent" boards could be stacked, but will see, it's still better than before probably.
