Things that irritate you - Part 4

These taxi association patrol cars just sitting around Sandton CBD recently. They seem to have multiple drastically in the last few months. What is their purpose even?

They ''police'' taxi routes, making sure taxis operating on given routes are permitted to be there (the taxi mobs demarcate routes/turf so that they don't kill each other). But they are becoming worse and their thuggish entitlement now extends beyond their own operations.

We had a big problem with them outside our office park (Waterfall). We also used to see one every now and then, then suddenly there was half a dozen of them with marshals hanging around the traffic lights right outside the office park.

They were intimidating ride sharers and e-hailers. On one occassion they even stopped a courier and inspected the vehicle to make sure no one was hiding in the back. Targeting a courier is also stupid as a lot of the couriers that operate in our area have armed escorts because of the goods they transport, so this is something that could potentially go very wrong. The facilities management had to beef up security to get them to move away from the gates, and eventually they got SAPS involved. They now sit across the road at the bus/taxi stop.

My take is the rise in the petrol price and general cost of living has seen more people turn to ridesharing, and the taxi associations, who in their extreme arrogance believe they can dictate how people travel, do not like this because they feel entitled to these commuters. I know a few people in my company that have stopped coming to work in their personal cars because of financial pressure and now ride share.

The fact that I won't get anything back for the pain the ambulance caused me driving on the wrong side of the road. No wonder people drink and drive you'll only have to pay and have consequences if you basically come very close to killing a person.
 
Is it just me or is Youtube pushing politics more aggressively in the past month. I try my best to keep this crap out of my feed but every day there is just a multitude more channels to ban. Even if you start a fresh browser without logging in and watch cat videos your recommends will be littered with Trump this and Russia that, frigging exhausting.
