Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

Spiderman: Brand New Day (2026)
6/10

As people have mentioned, the grounded Spiderman story is strong but is constantly being shoved aside for MCU inserts like X-Men. I don’t think this movie actually takes that many big risks. After the set up from the previous film where everyone has forgotten Peter, it seems like it’s going to all be resolved by the end of this film.

It’s definitely over hyped for what it is. Even though it was shot practically, I still don’t think the movie looks particularly great. I was expecting so much more.

Pickings was slim last night ...

Obsessed (2025) - 6/10 ... can't rate it higher ... was just a movie for me ... nothing wow ... Bear is a bit of a wimp as I would take that Nikki on and give her a good few b!tchslaps 🤪

72 Hours (2026) - 6.5/10 ... Had a good few LOL's ... Kevin was actually not that bad in this one.

Jackass: Best and Last (2026) 6.5/10

The end of an era. Lots of archival footage but a decent amount of new content. It's for the fans. Some new insights into the show & films. A metric tons of laughs, some old & some new. A pensive watch, yes really

Been watching too many or their old horrors like The Freakmaker. Going to spin up The Mad God again.

The horror is strong in this one. :D

I can wait until October, it's always something to look forward to, and no need to spoil it prematurely. I can't watch horrors out of season anymore, it's been a tradition for 20+ years already, and that's what the other genres are for for the rest of the year.

It's really not that long to go... yummy yummy, sweet flowing blood for my tummy, brains splattering all over my face, no morsel will go to waste... yummy yummy, blood and gore, c'mon man, give me some more, limbs flying, heads rolling, intestines flowing, yummy yummy, so much yummy, can't stop filling my tummy. :p

The Last House - 4/10. Interesting premise spoilt by absolute garbage nonsense. Its like we'll throw in whatever the fk we like, nobody cares about the details, we're Netflix after all.
We've got "respected" actors to reel them in. That's all.

Disclosure Day (2026)
Cheeseballs /10 *

Spielberg used every alien cliche in this movie...
Some badly aligned music score that doesn't always match the onscreen action.
Several WTF moments where things don't make sense.
And overall just a meh storyline.
It's time to give up on the alien schpiel mr Spielberg.... My dad (RIP) who used to be very much into the alien scene would have summed up this movie as "Wat 'n klomp kak!"

* 5.5/10
