Young, an Afrikaner and skilled? Orania needs you to help ensure its sustainability

They'll always be small, which is why they'll "get away with it". Only hope for bigger things here would be if a few more mushrooms sprouted, but it's been too many years...

Orania is a bit of an exception because they were created in effect by ANC incompetence. They wanted to gerrymander merge the town with its neighbouring towns in 2000, but the ANC being the ANC didn't publish the notice in the gazette correctly.

Which effectively means they didn't have to pay rates, so they now pay "rates" to their own org. Funny part is that every other municipality gets fiscal allocations, except them. So to rub sout in the eyes of any commie: just remind them that Orania is a net contributor to the SA government as its members pay vat and income tax, but the municipality gets nothing.

There's a lot of tough men in Orania. They don't mess around - I've been there twice and seen it for what it is - hard work and dedication.

renaldo gouws telling everyone how wonderful orania is, is no different than fikile mabula crowing how wondeful the anc is

next up, lord-mayor colonel wyatt tours orania.
Regardless of who’s saying it, Orania is pretty amazing. It should be seen as a shining example for what communities can do for themselves if they applies their minds to it, and didn’t put their hands out waiting for someone else to do it.

I am not planning on moving their anytime soon, but will definitely visit more regularly when travelling in that direction.

Wait but #2609 is just as happy to have ct without anc but vrot about oranje without da and without anc. Internet Logic 101?

Interesting interview.

Particularly from 30 mins onwards.

I tend to think Orania's success is not scalable without limiting the size of the community and repeating the process in an Orania2, Orania3 etc.

I can't see the model working at a big city level, and that has to do with the incentive problem with 'voluntary' unpaid labor.

p.s. 'voluntary' is the wrong word he's using because paid-for labor is voluntary, too.

On the topic of libertarian philosophy, I think both these gents have a watered-down version of libertarianism in mind. You can tell by them dismissing the philosophy on account of libertarians wanting 'no rules'. Which is again, just a watered-down version if you begin with the modern (Rothbardian) libertarian movement.

Oh boy.... Thomas saying things the Afrikaner Statists would not tolerate from some white people during Apartheid when said of enterprising black people, focusing his critique on the Chair of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Apartheid & post-94 Affirmative Action/DEI/Rainbow Nation: Same Same.

Statists of every shape and colour operate from the same, faulty and backward perception that nobody can progress and improve their lot in life without holding others back.

Pandor easily the ugliest "woman?" I have ever seen. Jissus.

She's disgusting and when she opens her mouth and speaks "kings English" so eloquently I always turn the sound off.

She HATES whites and colonialism......but thrives practicing everything colonialism. What a massive POS 💩 she is 🤢

Makes me think of stuff like this. There is a difference between intelligence and education:

Wasn’t that Naledi Pandor witch also the minister of education at one stage and oversaw the total destruction of the department of education?

This woman is a cancer of the highest degree to project South Africa

(In her defence, she did take over education from Kadar *******, so she was handed a house of cards to begin with - but her record at every other post she had had isn’t exactly stellar either)

The presumption here is that if the laws are antithetical to yours that the only option is to uproot your entire life in order to escape the effects of bad people and bad laws.

This is false.

Look at the USA themselves or others that weren't already geographically divided.

The collection of States that came to be a united was born by the exercising of the right to secede i.e. to remain where you are whilst exiting an existing jurisdiction/political union. The dissolving of the political union known as the Soviet Union is another example. As is ancient Israel.

This same right extends to Afrikaners who are at odds with having their freedom threatened on a daily basis. e.g. to self-determination, private property and freedom of association. They, too, should be reminded that they do not have to emigrate in order to - as the authors of the bill of rights penned it - 'alter or abolish their government' where those rights are threatened.

That a country's borders are set in stone, is a fatal presumption. (['the only option is to emigrate, whether by your own efforts or by someone offering you a plane ticket'])

Why is it that this presumption - that the only option is to take turns forcing one's rules on others - has to persist?

Use modern examples. Else this is likely false today.

Hi, Mrs G.

Perhaps spending all that time around Mr G is rubbing off on you.

He doesn't believe in rights unless they can be revoked by some higher-up. He's the epitome of a crony-capitalist or someone who believes in a perpetual double-standard.

He doesn't feel he needs to offer justifications for his claims, either, so it's not usually productive to engage him argumentatively.

If you really believe that examples from human history shouldn't be applicable to the modern world(*), go ahead and offer your justification for that claim.

* because, clearly, learning from history is beyond human being's capacity for progress /s.
