Communications portfolio committee calls for Netflix and SABC collaboration

The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications and Digital Technologies wants collaboration between the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) and video streaming giant Netflix.

In a report following its visit to Netflix's One Piece set at Cape Town Film Studios, it heard that some disagreements between the parties limited collaboration that could benefit the local industry.

"Intellectual property rights", "business models" - What nonsense is the ANC vomiting up again. They have none, South Africa is a production house and owns nothing. As already pointed out the SABC wasn't destroyed by streaming services, it was destroyed by ANC racist policy. Only thing I liked was the idea that the man on the street shouldn't be paying anything, I don't watch their nonsense and refuse to pay for it now, no matter what they come up with. If it involves me paying, I will find a way to balance that expenditure against what I am already paying them for the services they do not provide anyway.

So a company that charges up to R2000+ per year and has a high barrier to entry (Internet + Streaming Device + TV) decimated a Government subsidized company that charges R250 per year and has a low barrier to entry (TV).

I mean, if your competition beats you with higher prices and higher barrier to entry, may the competition isn't the problem?
