I traded my last car in after 14-years. Reason being spares were becoming a problem. It took a week to find a water pump replacement (not even Goldwagen could supply it) and when I went to the agents for another part, they would have had to have ordered it from Europe and at an insane price (R9000 for a manual window winder).
The car in question was a 2010 Opel Corsa with 196,000 km on the clock. I bought it in 2011 and drove it until 2025. Not a day's trouble, but both my mechanic (30 years' experience) and the agents (Williams Hunt, previously handled GM) told me that spares were a problem for the car due to its age, so even some major went wrong, it would be costly to replace and probably not worth it, or I would have to start trawling scrapyards.
