US public high-school education is largely a joke. Also during the woke craziness of the BLM and Covid eras, many universities in the US got rid of entrance tests because it was considered to be racist or some other woke bollocks. Many institutions have now reverted to requiring entrance tests. Not sure if UC-Berkeley is one of them.

It was largely Covid mandates, belief that SAT preparations put those from poor socioeconmic backgrounds at a disadvantage (irrespective of skin colour) as well as misplaced trust in school scores. Nothing woke about that.

Stop woke washing it. Standardised testing isn't racist.

Article literally says it was being done for equity purposes. That is expecting equality of outcomes instead of equality of opportunity.
Citing COVID pandemic disruptions and concerns over equity, testing was made optional later in 2020, with a court ruling subsequently requiring UC to become test-blind through 2025.

Trump is "yugely successful" in all his businesses, you see. And he built everything from scratch without any help from anyone.

On the other hand, Zuma received all the help from ANC & Zuptas.
 
Experience this with the professional industry. "Experienced" draftspersons and architects who doesn't know the basics of building code or how to use the software. Everyone expects to be spoonfed.

An ex-colleague of mine put "R" under Skills on her CV, yet she only used some R for a portion of her Ph.D thesis. Thought that was a bit bold. I'd only put down "R" if I was an intermediate or advanced R user, not a beginner like she was.

Equity has many components in US context. White women, poor white men, white orphans, etc would be drafted into equity programs under that definition.

It has little to do with "woke"

The dumbing down of the US education system has been a long term problem.
There are places where they teach anti-science bible stuff as fact, the DEI issues are just the cherry on top.
