Contrary to claims out of some corners, Amazon Leo is not "catching up" to Starlink. It is falling further behind every week.

Fact is that Leo will be equivalent to Starlink in 2-3 years. The fanboys claim nobody can do that. Pathetic.

I've been inanimately involved with both networks. The issue is not the technology by either, both are pretty good.

As the article pointed out , it's a function of launch capacity. There is not enough launch capacity available for Kuiper/Leo to get the required number of birds in the sky in the required timeframe.

But this is a function of time, they'll get there (as will the new Chinese fleets, BTW).

For now Starlink have a massive advantage, being first to market. Ford was also first to market, yet today your probably buy European or Eastern.

I think Leo being where Starlink is today will be plenty.

The number of satelittes affect the total number of clients that can be supported. More satelittes, means smaller cells, means more total aggregate bandwidth available. Or alternatively smaller cells means less customers per cell means more bandwidth per customer.

So they don't need as many sats as starlink if they have less customers than starlink to deliver the same level of service. Sure long term they will need as many as Starlink but they can ramp to get there.
