Yeah, I assumed as much - just didn't think the Libertarian Party was still going - and calling them one of the most important or major Libertarian groups in South Africa is a gargantuan stretch.

I consider groups like LexLibertas and IRR as the foremost "libertarian" groups in South Africa. Granted, none of them are political movements, rather just think tanks - they do have influence of political parties and other civil society groups' policy direction.

The Libertarian Party was a little bit too hardline to really gain any traction.

The party certainly has an important sounding label, but I guess you know what you're talking about.
And...

And of course we don't know for sure anyway. But the description of the guy sure does fit.
oh, it's absolute for sure.
i used to get vip invites to the AfricaCom event in Cape Town.
at one of them i was having lunch in the vip lounge - he happened to be a speaker at that particular event - speakers are also given vip access cards - by chance he landed up sitting at the table alongside mine for lunch.

earlier this yr he threatened to report me for "doxxing" him.
i told him to go ahead - lets see how that pans out.
he chose not to report me, and life went on.
i think he realised one cannot operate beyond the bounds and parameters of rules and regulations - then expect those rules & regulations to simultaneously protect you.
a bit like a cocaine dealer rushing off the the police to lay charges against someone who stole his stash !!!

in all, a good guy, i would enjoy a few drinks with his - we seem to share a dark "off-color" sense of humour.

I've also enjoyed his company, and he was humorous for most of these 6 years. Then got very serious about a year ago, guess an event in his life.

He's definitely not banned.
My bet is he'll reappear. . .

Anyway, I've heard back and indeed the Mod is right to say that this is not relevant to this thread, so I'll leave things there

Thanks for the kind words.

As for the other stuff, I was merely curious as to your respect for this particular forum rule, that's all. (Re: your comment about my allegedly selective respect for rules, I don't recall ever having doxxed anyone but even if I had, does that mean 2 wrongs make a right? The 'disrespect for rules only arises where there is an obvious impedance to exit a supposedly-voluntary group/union. Even then the attempt is to engage openly to resolve matters amicably without initiatory force).

I had my reasons for not reporting you, one of them being I'd have to be the person you are doxxing. 🤷‍♂️

Timing of this admission is interesting.... suspicious actually. Just after I managed to contact the REAL Lexity.

So... is it him but now double-lying, or is it not but they're friends so he heard about it,
or a coincidence?.... nah

(Re: your comment about my allegedly selective respect for rules..
As clear as bells sometimes, those who've seen it know. Just the last year really, something affected your honesty.
Changes the respect rules when it comes to debating the Libert. angle in these independence etc. discussions.

( @BBSA I have sinned 👻 )

Please summarize and place in my notes app. Diagrams optional.

Right, so a little earlier this evening I settled down with a finger or two of Laphroaig to catch up with the intrigue I'd missed from the land of libertarian legends over the past few pages. My memory is a bit cloudy, thanks to the aforementioned Laphroaig, but it went something like this:

@Grant and @Brian_G were looking to buy some legendary Koeksisters. They knew that such would be found in the north, so they headed for Orania, the capital of both Koeksisters and fledgling libertarian movements. On the way there, they encountered Snek buying biltong at a hardware store.

Upon arrival in Orania, they were disappointed to find only a large, very tough Koeksister, which turned out to be a statue. So they headed back to Cape Town in great disappointment and turmoil, most dejected.

At the end of the elevated highway, they took a wrong turn. Meaning to hit the Waterfront, they instead arrived in the doxx. They spotted an establishment in the doxx called "Missions for Semen", and excitedly entered! Success! To their surprise, they encountered the biggest, juciest Koeksister which was as thick as a python - crisp and crunchy on the outside, yet succulent and delicious on the inside!! Joy of joys!

I'm not sure how they encountered lex, but I think he may be a Jehovahs Witness and it was definitely at the doxx. He probably just knocked on the door and asked if they had some time to talk about their lord and saviour John Locke.

I hope this brief summary of events is as helpful to you as it was to me!

Looks like a bit of R&R helped Lex's mood. How about a sermon, Lex, for old times' sake :coffee:

All true.

At the same time if you don't grab the opportunities available in an extreme age like this, as tainted as they are, you'll simply go extinct.

Catch 22. I don't have all the answers, nor do you. None of us actually.
Just have to do our best...
You don't need to know all the answers, just the right one for the problem in front of you.

We have that answer. We just need some courage to implement it/act on it.

Without meaning to be offensive to anyone, and just focusing on the most popular city - how brave would you say Capetonians are?
