Big upgrades for TV channels and cheaper mobile data — the dead South African dream

Can't believe they're still beating the DTT drum. DTT is already yesterday's technology. It's like saying they're going to replace a horse and cart with a Ford Model T and the rest of the modern world are all driving Teslas.

In essence, the courts determined that government had not done enough to warn people about the switch-off deadline or ensure poor households could continue to access their TV programmes

How hard can this possibly be?

Run adverts on SABC saying that people need to get a STB. Do this for 6 months. If after that people still complain they didn't know, then clearly they don't actually watch FTA TV and don't need the STB.

DTT's time in the sun was 20 years ago. The world has moved on.

You are missing a critical point. Nothing will happen while the potential tenders for STBs remain...

P.S. The last tenders were sent to the Post Office. We all know how that turned out...

If they had done this 15 years ago

This must be the joke. They keep showing the ads on the analogue channels. People are not seeing them because they're either on Openview or Dstv already. I don't know what the courts are smoking.
