Any LEO service that actually manages to launch would be a win. No Luck so far and it seems we might be in for a looooooong wait.

Our government is too busy stealing to worry about planning ahead. They are reactive, not pro-active. The concept of temporary licensing is a WMC ploy.

Personally wouldn't use Leo except as a last resort, but if it one day helps others in the country it should be supported.
 
My company is currently relocating inside Modderfontein and we are at the stage of investigating StarLink as an Internet provider as none if the local broadband providers are capable or willing to assist. The companies we queried are, Openserve (rumoured to own the fibre endpoint but no site visit after two months of requests), Metrofibre (connected according to building plans but not in reality), Microwave (no reliable line of sight at this moment), MTN (no signal) and, Vodacom (no access to their infrastructure even though they have a base station on the roof)

It's going to be up to standard eventually. Look at their other offerings and whom they are targeting as their main clientele. On their enterprise side they are offering direct connections to AWS via Leo without having to touch the internet. That will be a major draw card for a lot of corporate customers.

I would also choose Starlink over Leo at this very moment, but if Leo launches tomorrow I will be shoveling them with cash.

You're not going to get anywhere with Starlink right now. ZA has been geofenced and there is no way around it. They know exactly where their terminals are and you get locked out within 24h in ZA.

Try speaking to @websquadza - They have an amazing team that will find a solution for you. Their network is solid and their forum presence is great. I'm sure they can push Openserve or Metrofibre to come to the party.

You're not going to get anywhere with Starlink right now. ZA has been geofenced and there is no way around it. They know exactly where their terminals are and you get locked out within 24h in ZA.

It is too expensive from a business connection anyway but the problem here is all the local providers really don't want to have our business.

You don't need a business connection from Starlink. You can run a vpn to a VPS that will give you a public/static IP. The other option is to utilize IPV6, that apparently doesn't change (or does so rarely).

Don't speak to the local providers, speak to an intermediary. That's why I suggested Websquad. They can escalate to the right person within the FNO that will get the job done. Most FNO's would prefer business clientele above residentials. Long contracts with a lot more profit to be had.

Hope some of the locals read this - according to them we have amazing internet everywhere, and don't need Starlink.
Just another bit of grit in the gearbox that keeps this economy barely moving forward:(
 
The Musk fanboys will never get it as they hate dealing with anything local. They prefer to dream of Musk taking them to Mars and dreams are all they have. I actually would be interested in either Starlink or Leo if it involves an easy subscription via Cell C.

I doubt it is Musk fanboys just people who operate in area's where the limits of existing communication are obvious. Limits which a single Starlink dish can remove right now.
