South Africa gets 804MW private power boost

The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has registered 124 renewable energy generation facilities during the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year. The solar and wind facilities have a combined capacity of 804MW, with an investment value estimated at R20.18 billion. “NERSA processed the applications for the registration of the 124 generation facilities
 
Are they able to connect to the grid? I read previously that the grid is maxed out in many areas?

The article does say that the majority is connected to the Eakom grid while a 10% of it connects directly with municipalities.

But it doesn’t mention anything about constraints
