Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

Motor City (2025) 6.5/10

This one is a divisive watch. There are aspects that are well told & thought out BUT the pure visual storytelling for an action thriller...:unsure:. Yeah, I don't think it works so well. Even the camerawork is something unusual. A gritty watch nonetheless with intense action scenes. "Reacher" is flexing as per usual.Extra marks for the soundtrack.

Batman Knightfall Part 1 (2026) - 8/10. Gritty, dark and action-packed. Part 1 of a trilogy. Explores the backstory of Bane and takes it from there. Great watch. If you don't know already, the ending is particularly impactful. Pity we have to wait a while for the next movie.
Motor City (2026) - 6/10. The almost zero dialogue is interesting at first but gets boring after about 25 mins. Action is ok, not riveting.
First Blood (1982) - 7.5/10. The start of the Rambo film series. I.m.o. the best one. Action is top class and the plot is straight-forward, uncomplicated but entertaining. Awesome Friday night action movies.

I agree with everything you've said, I wasn't aware the movie had almost no dialogue when I started watching, it started off really well, soundtrack, the cinematography etc for that first 20 minutes...
Then it started to actually annoy me because of the non existent dialogue, I'm a sucker for dialogue like a lot of Quentin Tarantino's stuff, love it. But this was annoying once I realised this is the entire movie... a 6.5 hell no dude..

I'm a simple guy. Hardcore intense action for an action genre film would count in my favour.

Additionally the depth element at the very end/final scene? Full circle vibes. I stand by 6.5 ;)

Hmmm offhand I would say:

- John Wick, all. Everything single one.
- Mission Impossible – Fallout
- The Raid: Redemption
- Mad Max: Fury Road
- Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2 (outside of 20 years but a fav)
 
The Whisper Man (2026) 6/10

By the numbers crime thriller. Solid casting but actual thrills & intrigue is lacking. De Niro was the best of he lot & Scott's character was on the annoying side. I needed more meat for this one.
