Dawie Roodt says free 300kWh electricity is an election stunt

200–300 kWh for free... Migh as well just double down on the fantasy and make it free if you're blek.
The administrative overhead would likely be more than just calling it a day.

Funny part is that the ANC doing this means that some left wing court in the future will create a constitutional right to electricity.

Yet again the diagnosis for why people can't afford the high prices is wrong. Yes the economy is stagnant bit a growing economy won't make life more affordable. Inflation and devaluation of the currency is at fault, but for all these economists that would be sacrilege to admit. The system is at fault, not just a low growth economy, wealth extraction and off-shoring through exporting the Rand's value along with bad fiscal discipline and miss-incentivised government policy means the cost of living will continually increase without restbit until the need for a restructuring is finally acknowledged. But sure let's pretend that only if we can magically grow the economy then all will be fine.

Isn't the plan now 150kWh? Most likely it will end up at something like 100.

Cynical bunch of keyboard warriors in the comments today.
Nah, just a need to express how we feel about a sad old man that comes here to pay for the privilege to shout at windmills (and state the plainly obvious) nearly every single day. One does expect a bit more from an economist of his supposed stature, in that he would STFU at least most of the time.

Nah, just a need to express how we feel about a sad old man ....
And yet you could not resist clicking on the story....
Or were your forced at gun point? The story literally started with his name. If I, for example, see "Prince Harry" or "Megan" in the title of a story, I know it will be something that I am not the target audience.

I didn't click on it, or read it.
Don't have to read the AI slop to spot the obvious
