Schay responded to Gouws’s post, acknowledging that he had played games during a 10-minute break in the 9.5-hour meeting.

The DA terminated Gouws’s membership in September 2024, just a few months after he was elected to Parliament.

His expulsion came after old videos surfaced from his earlier online activity in which he made racially insensitive remarks.
