I recall a certain capture box made in China where it compares 2 inputs and drops any frames which are different from one another to effectively strip out any watermarking. Fine for broadcast TV I assume but probably way more difficult for gaming.

Agreed that it's economics. As long as the pricing is ridiculously high, there will be a market. Waka TV is R140pm, a fraction of the cost of their premium bouquet.
The French have good crypto solutions though, so maybe they will force these crims to increase their own cost.

Their problem is they can't really drop the price much, legal sports streaming elsewhere has similar charges when converted to rands.

But I think they could make a plan with smaller focused packages. Will take time though, they have to recover from previous bad management first.

Well, they don't seem to be going after individuals which is historically a loss-making proposition, and I really don't mind them going after people who are actively pirating for personal profit as these streaming services do. That said if their prices were anywhere near the realms of reality they would be making a lot more money.
