How much money are you willing to pay for a smartphone?

My kids both have iPhone 17s and I have the Vivo V30e that costs roughly half the price. Other than the camera quality I rate my Vivo as good if not better than these iPhones.

Just a pity that no amount of convincing will change my kids opinions

R20,000-R30,000 with the plan to keep it for as many years as possible. I like a phone that has a great camera and that will last long (not slow down or not get updates) so I go for flagship phones. Still extremely happy with my S24 Ultra.

i dont buy iphones new anymore. Screw that. There is more value in a 2nd hand used device thats “Grade A”.

I buy for software longevity. My phone is an iPod basically

I've tried the cheap route (Honor X7b), you just end up with a phone that slows down over time.
I recently got a Samsung A37 and it's so buttery smooth and has all the processing power and features I need. No need to break the bank. Great phone.

Nice flex there. My sons drive Ferrari and I drive Fiat Uno kind..

My current phone cost me under R2000, if I recall. Probably bought 5-6 years ago. I am amazed at people who chase new phone models every 2 years. I mean apart from affordability factor (I can't), I don't see the point. I am probably too old so there is that.

I try for a R6000 odd phone for me and the wife. Comes with a decent camera, and after 2 years it's still good enough to pass down to my kids for another 2 years. Kind or roll it forwards like that.

I am old school. I will buy decent phone for my son when he is of appropriate age and will probably take his hand me downs later.

The irony is that in reality so little actually changes in the day to day experience over those 5 years.
