Seems that use of water is S.O.P either prior or after extinguisher use.

the only fire extinguishers they have on aircraft are Halon ones, though i suppose airlines should update the regulations to carry as well a class d one, which is designed to contain lithium and metal fires, or even more cheaply just have a few cans of baking soda close to hand, as that is the basis of the class D powder.

Mine's not one of them, but doesn't exactly inspire confidence.
When looking at the affected models though, it looks more to me like the affected batteries could be lithium pockets cells and not the 18650 or 21700 type cells used in banks like mine.

There's no real test you can do that I'm aware of if certain batches of lithium batteries used in products had a manufacturing defect. Just one of those things we gotta live with in the modern age.

Pretty sure a safety recall is specific and manufacturers advise distributors who are supposed to advise retailers to notify customers and provide options and it supersedes any warranty?

I got 2 Tesla branded recycled cells in a solar spotlight. Replaced them with lots of old 18650 cells and a new BMS board, because of the one cell venting, and the other having around 200mAh capacity after a year. There was room for 8 2Ah cells in there, so that light works dusk to dawn, even in winter.
