Of course Telkom only got themselves into gear after the market was opened by the brave lawsuit of Altron.

Maybe there needs to be such a massive deregulation of electricity. If private companies are given specific subsidies to hit specific targets to electrify poor households they will do a better job, for cheaper than the current mess.

Agreed, although government controlling the transmission infrastructure still means they hold the country as 'captive customers' to a large extent, it doesn't matter who you get your electricity from, you still pay Eskom something to recieve it.
