Wait, a newspaper is quoting a weather enthusiast about a potential weather event, and it gets posted on MyBB as a source!? There will certainly be some sort of cutoff low over the interior of SA next week, but it is impossible to predict details this far in advance, let alone whether it will affect Gauteng.

For weather events, and particularly COLs, I look both at actual forecasts, and probability maps. There will absolutely, definitely, certainly be a cutoff low this week! By Fri 4th almost the entire country will be experiencing significantly below average temperatures:


Where it will be located is less certain. The area expecting the most rain is likely to be the Eastern Cape, with spillover in all adjacent provinces:

Nice. This time of year those formations can be very unpredictable though but here's hoping we get some rain.

The latest model runs are quite encouraging for Gauteng, but these things can change. Yr.no shows close to 70mm for Joburg on Fri 4th and Sat 5th.

Edit: Parts of the Northern Cape are likely to experience violent thunderstorms (see SAWS warnings). Yr.no shows 81mm for Kimberley on Fri 4th.

I tried to water tje garden with the hose pipe earlier in the day but the ground didn't even get wet so would really appreciate that. I might even skip work Friday afternoon to wash the car. That should help.
