Vumatel keeps fibre downgrade fees secret in South Africa

Remember when they were the darlings? When they were giving us the break from Telkom? Where they were the heroes?

Yeah seems that when you become a monopoly you get greedy. Fibre was supposed to get cheaper, but it seems where-ever Vuma have a strong hold, it just gets more and more where even Telkom is cheaper.
 
On Frogfoot it seems I can't downgrade from e.g. 240/240 to 240/120 either. Need to either go down to 120/120 or stay on 240/240.
 
The downgrade fees for some like Openserve, do seem reasonable even though many charge nothing, others like Frogfoot are obviously not cost relative and are effectively extortion. One accepts that there would be some sort of administrative fee involved but anything above R125.00 reeks of profiteering and not an administrative based fee. As for Vumatel, I am sure their clients who have downgraded would be more than happy to reveal what they were charged making any attempt by Vumatel's refusal to discuss it infantile and counterproductive to their own business model. The term "captive client" has been used quite a bit recently, especially around Eskom and its new costing proposal, and I think it is an apt term to use here, and I must say the words of the Eagle's "Hotel California" also spring to mind,
"You can check-out any time you like
But you can never leave!"
