MultiChoice accidentally leaked the details of a planned revamp of DStv on its website, which includes a dedicated Sports package and a new Movies & Series bouquet.

New French owners, yes? South Africans are too conservative when they enter executive management.

That and DSTV was largely successful with constant growth until a few years ago,. so no need to change a good thing.

When the product started losing subscribers by the truckload, the product needed to change. I salute DSTV for taking a bold step in the right direction.

The problem is pricing though: at R500/month for all of their best entertainment channels bundled together, they're still remarkably more expensive than a Netflix, Apple TV, Disney+ and Prime subscription all bundled together!

Not terrible either, as a start...

DStv Sports, formerly DStv Compact, will be R399 per month, have 115 TV channels, and include SuperSport’s Premier League and UEFA content, T20 cricket, local rugby, and one URC match per week.

It will also continue to offer entertainment content, including M-Net’s Mzansi Magic and the rebranded M Movies+ channel.

This is why MultiChoice recently axed the M-Net Movies 2 channel and is doing away with the M-Net Movies add-on bundle, which included M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 2.

MultiChoice calls Sports the package that will have “the world’s best football, cricket, local rugby, UFC, and WWE action, all in one affordable sports package”.

My bet is it will continue, just like the terrestrial M-Net & CSN packages have all these years. But quietly.

Actually this sports selection is better than what Compact has got currently.

It's a positive change in my opinion.

Looks like this could be another package - a "cheap Premium" maybe?
Though the name suggests it may not fit the forum's atypical demographics.
