Airlink has pulled its application for a flypast over FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

Airlink has pulled its application for a flypast over FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, 5 September 2026, when the Springboks will face the All Blacks in the final test of the Greatest Rivalry Tour.

We have had flyovers for decades and nobody ever complained.
But

Data from Flightradar24 showed that the aircraft was at a lower altitude than it had ever recorded during such manoeuvres

So maybe its a case of one company/pilot now spoiled it for everyone.

No I think it’s just people overreacting. Also compared to what? Next time someone flies one foot lower that will be the lowest ever recorded?

Either way it has happened and is now behind them regardless of the findings. They’re still awesome pilots.

I’m flying Airlink again tomorrow I must tell them how much of a fan I am
