And what is sad to this isn't the stupidist thing I have seen done in a recent airshow. The Chinese cargo plane demonstration in low cloud at last year's AAD was way way more riskier.

The flyby was planned and executed according to that plan, the Chinese aircraft was executing a routine for clear weather in low clouds which is a recipe for disaster.

Geez, you cant make this **** up.
If there's risk in 120km/h in town, there is risk in 60km/h in town. So why don't we just drive 120km/h in town? Great argument.
50m will give you a 3 times more chance of recovery than 15m if something goes wrong.
Simple as that, basic logic.

of course i see risks - they are everywhere, and everyone sees them - from the point of push-back from the apron & return landing.
risks left right & centre.
to mitigate risks, endless calculations and plans take place.

do you think the pilots and everyone else involved did not calculate the variables - stadium hight, aircraft dimensions, wind speed and direction, bla bla bla.

the pilots would have been watching instruments like hawks as they made their approach.
do you think a pilot would not have aborted / diverted if he sensed a problem - a problem that may have had the potential to kill him and all on the ground ??

I don't even have to argue these points, if you had any logic you would understand. Its right in front of you every day. The speed limit in town is much less than on the open road. For a reason.

Well, actually his own supplied video makes the point against him at ~8m40s.

But we must trust the experts.

Just like we must trust a truck coming screeching down the road, over the speed bumps, past the school fence with 600 little kids having lunch break right next to the fence is safe. Because the authorities said so. I wonder what the parents would say that weren't informed.

The experts also said short sleeve t-shirts and open sandals weren't safe in 2020, and if you disagreed you were an anti-vaxxer and flat earther. We outsource thinking if we like something that's actually indefensible.

Funnily enough, the point being made at 8m40s is the exact one I made about something where somebody was trying to defend not doing a full disclosure about something that could harm forumites, suggesting we rather had to trust him blindly.

Then to see folks who know better, claiming to be in the industry (I have no reason to say they're not), suddenly ignore physics and liken the planes to gliders. Bugger the reaction time, bugger a century plus worth of hard learnt safety lessons. Bugger the fact that a higher altitude means a longer glide slope, more reaction time. Yet people pointing out the obvious are suddenly trolls?

Let's not talk about engineers pointing out the obvious who are suddenly 30% maffers (I nearly choked reading that, somebody had just exposed his own idiocy).

I understand the risks and get the 8h40s point. So I guess I'm a troll as well now for pointing it out.

While I think the fly over was epic, not even the dumbest person on the forum can deny the risk went up exponentially for people that had no say in the matter.

Ha-ha, that's funny!? Nobody on earth can predict the weather in Joburg 3 days in advance. A great cover story! The weather over Cape Town was dodgy until 4:30pm on the day of the match...

Edit: The current yr.no forecast for Joburg on Sat 5th is 0.8mm rain and 5m/s winds. They can't possibly fly in those conditions. /s

Slightly off topic, but you really don't want to appear on an aviation safety channel video, even if nobody died! The ADSB readings on this runway overrun are very different from the CT stadium, and not in a good way:
