Fairly sure we'll get the new movie channel(s) expected as well this month, all the signs point to that.

Maybe some other surprise too, though I may well have jumped the gun regarding what so many new test channels are for - forgot that they can also be simple channel technical replacements, with new coding for new package structuring.

The "important" sport is Premium's biggest selling point. Put all the sport on an actual Sports package and no one would want Premium anymore.

Depends if it's for streaming or for decoder, if it's for decoder it's 179 less, if it's streaming it's 100 more.

That's not what I'm seeing. I have Premium (decoder) and the prices look exactly the same to me. :unsure:

And streaming has been R799 for a long time now afaik.
 
The only logical way sport could stand truly independently and complete now is if M-Net and the movie channels get much closer to their past heights of success again. Movies they've possibly got covered, but seems impossible for series now given the zillions of sources.

Still, there's enough decent series recently to have made us start using M-Net more again.


The other possible route - if MC end up with no choice, sport streaming access is growing.

The article title is misleading - you can't call it a "dedicated" sports package if it's missing big sports like F1 and International/Bok rugby.

I get that sports rights are expensive and make up a large portion of the 'premium' package costs. But I have no interest in their garbage reality channels or their tired old movie offerings showing the likes of 'Wanted' on an infinite loop. If a 'premium' sports-only package including all sports channels was 80-90% of the price of the current premium package I reckon it would still have plenty of takers.

But I guess from their point of view that would only be offered if they really do spin off Supersport South Africa into a separate streaming service. There must be a chance of that in the future, as a consolidated pan-African satellite business has quite a different focus to a nice audience in SA watching the Springboks, golf at the Masters or tennis at Queens.
